Mark was recruited from the Orthopaedic Program at the University of California San Francisco upon the highest recommendation of then Chairman, Dr. William Murray.

Mark is not only a foot and ankle specialist, but is an author and artist as well. He received his B.A. from Claremont College in Claremont, CA and his medical degree from George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C. prior to his training at UCSF.

Mark is becoming best known for his development of a patented spinal compression fractures and for his company, Kyphon. Mark has taught the "kyphoplasty" procedure to surgeons all over the U.S. and Europe and is working on similar balloon technologies for wrist and knee fractures.

Biomet and other Orthopaedic equipment companies have expressed interest in his revolutionary design for a Total Ankle Reconstruction procedure as well as other innovations.
