Thomas E. Barber, M.D., a native of Berkeley and a proud UC Berkeley alumnus, founded Berkeley Orthopaedics nearly 50 years ago.

Tom, who died in 1997, has left us a legacy of expert and compassionate Orthopaedic care and taught us the principal of finding the best physician for each particular problem and patient.

Berkeley Orthopaedics offers Orthopaedic surgical and non-operative care to the families of Berkeley, Oakland, Piedmont and Orinda as well as the surrounding Alameda and Contra Costa counties.

Berkeley Orthopaedic Medical Group has merged with California Sports and Orthopaedic Institute and the combined group consists of 5 Board Certified and experienced orthopaedic surgeons and 3 Sports Medicine Specialists.  California Sports and Orthopaedics are specialists with skills in sports wellness, sports injuries, knee and shoulder ligament repairs, arthroscopic surgeries, joint replacements, trauma surgeries and post-injury and post-surgery physical therapy services.
