Thomas E. Barber, M.D., a native of Berkeley and a proud UC Berkeley alumnus, founded Berkeley Orthopaedics nearly 50 years ago.

Tom, who died in 1997, has left us a legacy of expert and compassionate Orthopaedic care and taught us the principal of finding the best physician for each particular problem and patient.

Berkeley Orthopaedics offers Orthopaedic surgical and non-operative care to the families of Berkeley, Oakland, Piedmont and Orinda as well as the surrounding Alameda and Contra Costa counties. We also provide services to the University of California at Berkeley students, faculty and athletes, in addition to the employees of UCB, Lawrence Berkeley Lab, Lawrence Livermore Lab, and the Berkeley police and fire departments.

Berkeley Orthopaedics Medical Group includes 5 Board certified and experienced Orthopaedic Surgeons and 1 Sports Medicine specialist with subspecialty skills in sports medicine, knee and ligament reconstruction surgery, arthroscopic surgery, joint replacement surgery as well as trauma and foot and ankle surgery.
